Milan, 17 October 2013 – Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. announces that its main operating company Tecnimont S.p.A. was awarded the “BRONZE WINNER” in Big Size project category for the Biomass Power Plant Olevano di Lomellina  Project at the award ceremony held in Dubrovnik, Croatia on 1^st of October 2013.

The IPMA International Project Excellence Award is annually bestowed upon the most successful project teams in the world. The award diligently recognizes excellent project management methods practiced across international projects. The Award was presented for the first time at the IPMA World Congress in Berlin in 2002.

Our project that competitively contended for the award is one of the best examples of the Group’s excellent project execution skills. The Biomass Power Plant Olevano di Lomellina Project includes all the activities for the development, permitting, design, construction and management of a new biomass power plant (Plant), powered with virgin wood biomass, and located in the Municipality of Olevano di Lomellina, in Pavia Province (Italy).

The Plant can benefit from incentive schemes for production from renewable sources (short supply chain biomass) for a period of 15 years.

The Plant allows to satisfy the annual electricity needs of over 50,000 residential units with “zero impact”, preventing CO2 emission of about 100,000 tons per year compared to a modern coal power plant.

The above project has undergone critical assessment process according to the IPMA Model for Project Excellence and has achieved the highest status of “BRONZE WINNER” in Big Size project category.
