Rome, 18 March 2024 – MAIRE and the University of Catania (UNICT) have signed a framework agreement establishing a wide-ranging partnership for joint technological research, innovative professional training and the dissemination of knowledge and skills. UNICT and MAIRE are both responding to the complex impact of the energy transition on industrial and educational systems, and therefore intend to work together to build a learning path that meets the growing need for a multidisciplinary and long-term approach.

The first result of this partnership is MAIRE's Project Control Academy, which offers the opportunity for recent graduates to take part in Project Control training. Participants will be selected from UNICT's Faculties of Engineering, Economics and Law. Training will focus on economic and project management topics (in particular Project Planning Scheduling and Project Cost & Financial Control), through courses designed to provide practical and hands-on experience, and will strongly reflect criteria important to MAIRE.

Alessandro Bernini, CEO of MAIRE commented, "This cooperation fully represents MAIRE’s commitment and constant reach towards the future. As demonstrated by the results of the international study presented by our Foundation at COP28 in Dubai, the energy transition calls for new professional skills and roles, which are a crucial element to enable the decarbonization of our economies. Our Group is proud to activate this collaboration with the University of Catania, which is located in eastern Sicily which has a strong industrial tradition and is at the center of the Mediterranean and where we are considering strengthening our presence."

Francesco Priolo, Chancellor of the University of Catania, said: “Innovating and spreading the knowledge gained every day in our classrooms and laboratories is now one of the University’s primary goals, and it is increasingly engaged – also through its traditional missions of education and research - in the challenge of sustainability and the digital, energy and ecological transitions.Teaming up with an industry leader like MAIRE, which we thank for having picked our university as a partner, therefore allows us to offer our recent graduates new and important opportunities for growth and specialization, with an interdisciplinary and strongly professional slant, particularly in the Project Control sector. We will certainly be able to extend it to other sectors as well."
