An event that we were particularly proud to take part in, a few weeks ago, is MEED | Middle East Economic Digest's webinar "The Future of Industrial Plants", which is now available on demand for everyone to enjoy.
It has been an incredibly stimulating conversation that touched base on the key challenges that lie ahead for oil and gas producers and the opportunities disclosed by digital technologies, from the current challenges linked to net-zero carbon emission to digital data management, passing by cybersecurity and new exciting technologies that can help in the whole decarbonization process.

The panel included a dynamic group of leaders within our Group and our partners:
Giovanni Sale, Commercial and Business Development Senior Vice President and Group Corporate Strategy SVP, Maire Tecnimont
Max Panaro, Group Organization, ICT, System Quality Vice President, Maire Tecnimont
Aldo Sebastiani, SVP Cyber Security & Digital Competence Center/Cyber Security Division, Leonardo
Maurizio Rovaglio, Head of Digital Enterprise Business for Process Industry, Siemens Digital Industries
with moderation by:
Richard Thompson, Editorial Director, MEED

Our Commercial and Business Development SVP and Group Corporate Strategy SVP stressed how important it is to keep in mind the diversification of the feedstock and the increasing importance of waste: "The feedstock won't be only oil and gas anymore, it will be waste, that is the oil of the future, something that the very district you live in produces. You have to be flexible enough to recognise the different types of feedstock.".

The focus was then moved by our Group Organization, ICT, System Quality Vice President Max Panaro on NextPlant, our portfolio of solutions to be fully future-proof: "The plants of the future will be natively digital and will be designed in green colour. With NextPlant, we want to leverage the green and the digital transition to make industrial plants more resilient, more efficient and more profitable".

Other topics largely mentioned were 5G and a necessary change in culture and mindset of plant owners to allow the technologies - that are already available - to really take off and thrive.
