• Digital solutions to be specifically designed combining Maire Tecnimont’s unique expertise in process engineering and maintenance services and AVEVA’s competences as a leader in innovative industrial software driving digital transformation of complex industries
  • Maire Tecnimont Group achieves new digital transformation milestone

Milan, April 20, 2021Maire Tecnimont Group, a leader in the global natural resource processing industry, through its main Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor Tecnimont, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AVEVA, a global leader in industrial software to create new digital preventive and predictive maintenance ‘Asset Performance Management’ (APM) systems.

This partnership will enhance plant operability and lower maintenance costs for customers across the globe, where they can now extend their full usage of AVEVA’s APM solutions across Maire Tecnimont. This will enable increased information availability and empower better, more informed decisions, ultimately improving business performance.

As per the terms of the agreement, the two companies plan to work together over twelve months on a specified number of pilot projects (“proof of concept”) and identify a list of prospects to promote the application of predictive maintenance technology over critical plant assets.

Pierroberto Folgiero, Maire Tecnimont Group CEO, commented: “Digital transformation is a key driver to give a boost to our industry. The MoU with AVEVA fits seamlessly with Maire Tecnimont’s strategy for digital transformation, as we complement our value proposition with our new digital services and solutions portfolio NextPlant that perfectly meets our clients’ needs, while simultaneously improving our operational model through digital enablers.”

Kim Custeau, Vice President APM Business at AVEVA, said: “Our Asset Performance Management suite, leveraging our predictive and prescriptive analytics, is helping to realize the industrial operations of the future. By enabling companies to predict failures before they occur, we will cut unplanned downtime, reduce operational stress on key components and drive efficiency throughout plant operations. We are excited about the partnership with Maire Tecnimont, and I look forward to seeing this project come to fruition in the next twelve months.”

As a technology licensor and EPC contractor in the transformation of natural resources, Maire Tecnimont will leverage its unique process, automation and maintenance competencies to supply plant owners with perfectly customized digital products and solutions that are tailor-made for their maintenance needs. The combination of Maire Tecnimont’s proven market experience and AVEVA’s leadership as a technology provider will result in a highly competitive, technical and commercial offering that the two companies can only achieve together.
AVEVA’s preventive and predictive maintenance analytics is based on machine learning algorithms that identify operating fault conditions based on an assets’ historical data. These APM systems utilize such information to provide early warnings to detect defective equipment before it becomes an issue. This reduces unplanned downtime, asset losses and guards against worst-case scenarios - including the loss of plant production facilities.

With this MoU, Maire Tecnimont Group has activated a potential new technology-enabled value stream as a crucial part of its digital transformation roadmap. To achieve its goal of becoming “contractor of the future”, Maire Tecnimont is enhancing the overall value for plant owners through a suite of advanced digital products and services geared towards EPC customers.
