Rotterdam, 11 May 2016 – Maire Tecnimont Group proudly announces that the 13^th Stamicarbon Urea Symposium opened its doors yesterday in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Stamicarbon, the Netherland-based innovation and licensing company of Maire Tecnimont Group, organizes its Urea Symposium every four years. With over 300 participants, this four day event is the largest and leading worldwide event fully dedicated to urea technology, exclusively organized for Stamicarbon customers, suppliers and innovation partners.

The fertilizer industry, and the urea sector in particular, has been growing with more than 3% annually in order to meet the increasing demand to feed the world. For this reason new capacity is required to maintain a healthy supply-demand balance to enable to grow enough food for the growing population, which is expected to reach 9 billion people in 2050.

The program was opened yesterday by Pejman Djavdan, Stamicarbon Managing Director and Pierroberto Folgiero, Maire Tecnimont CEO, at the presence of Fabrizio Di Amato, Maire Tecnimont founder and Chairman. Mr. Folgiero emphasized on the importance of continuous innovation within the urea market and commented: “Thanks to our people and their entrepreneurial and resilient mindset, we can drive this industry further with continuous innovation.”

This resonates with the key focus of the event that is innovation within the urea industry. During the symposium the latest breakthrough urea technologies will be discussed, such as the launch of two new Safurex® material propositions, an example of Stamicarbon’s pioneering spirit. This mindset together with Stamicarbon’s full life cycle philosophy enables plant owners to have a stable, reliable and profitable urea plant operation.

During this four day event the parallel sessions will cover the three different series that form the basis of this philosophy, named Launch, Advance and Evolve series.
