Fertilizer Complex - Iowa

Where: United States

Client: Iowa Fertilizer Company (IFCo)

Company in charge: Tecnimont - Stamicarbon

The contract consists of two awards related to a greenfield fertilizer complex in Iowa. This worldwide scale plant is the first to be built in the United States for over 25 years. It stands on the border between Iowa and Illinois and will have an impact on the agro-industrial chain of the so-called "corn belt" of the United States.

Specifically, Tecnimont provided engineering and procurement services (on a Lump Sum basis) for the construction of a new ammonia plant with a capacity of 2,200 metric tons per day (MTPD) based on KBR technology. The scope of work also includes Construction Supervision services as well as Engineering and Procurement services for the Utilities and Offsites units.

Furthermore, Stamicarbon provided a Process Design Package for a new greenfield Urea Synthesis plant with a capacity of 2,200 MTPD. This plant is also part of the same fertilizer complex.
